How to Build a Cooler City

DMA’s Jason Westrope comments on the financial and energy savings of green roof development in this PBS report on Chicago’s efforts to keep residents cool. Green roofs (like those DMA helped develop at 900 North Michigan) help reduce the urban heat island effect as well as storm water runoff. Chicago is encouraging their growth by speeding the permitting process for any project that includes a green roof in its plan.
